Mazibul Hoque today said a total of 999 persons performed hajj at
public expenses during 2014 to 2017 as per national hajj and umrah
policy approved by the cabinet.
“The government order is issued with the approval of the prime
minister finalizing a list of pilgrims at state expenses after scrutinizing
the received applications submitted addressing the religious affairs
minister and secretary by the intending pilgrims,” Mazibul said this on
behalf of the Religious Minister Matiur Rahman, while responding to a
starred question from treasury bench member Muhibur Rahman Manik
of Sunamganj-5 in the Jatiya Sangsad.
“A total of 125 persons performed hajj in 2014 at the government
expenses, 266 persons in 2015, 288 in 2016 and 320 in 2017,” he told
the Jatiya Sangsad.
