DHAKA, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – The Directorate General of Drug Administration
(DGDA) today issued the “Lot Release Certificate” for Covishield — the
Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

“Samples from every lot of COVID-19 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines have been
examined thoroughly,” Maj Gen Mahbubur Rahman, Director General of DGDA, told
a press briefing in the conference room of the DGDA here.

After issuing “Lot Release Certificate”, there will be no legal restriction
to use these vaccines, the director general said.

The first consignment of COVID-19 50 lakh Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines
purchased by the government landed in Dhaka on January 25.

An Air India special flight carrying the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines,
manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, reached Hazrat Shahjalal
International Airport on Monday. The vaccines were then brought to Beximco
warehouses in Tongi.

The health ministry sources said Bangladesh received its first ever COVID-
19 vaccine consignment on January 21 (Thursday) as India sent 20 lakh doses
of vaccine as gift.

The total vaccine doses stand at 70 lakh doses now. The government has
taken all necessary preparations for distribution and preservation of these
70 lakh doses of vaccine, it added.
