JAMALPUR, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – An amount of 35.4 tonnes of honey was collected from the mustard fields in the district this year.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said due to favorable weather, 3070 kilograms more honey was found this time than the last year.
Farmers in the district cultivated mustard on 21850 hectares of land but honey was collected from 4751 hectares, they said.
Honey collectors set up 4223 bee boxes in six Upazilas, a sharp rise of 113 boxes than the previous year.
11500 kilograms honey was collected in Dewanganj Upazila, 11200 kilograms in Islampur, 7000 kilograms in Sarishabari, 3800 kilograms in Melandah, 1500 kilograms in Bakshiganj and 400 kilograms in Madarganj, sources informed.
