4 smugglers held with 1.90 lakh dollars
DHAKA, Jan 22, 2021 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained
four smugglers from Hamidpur area of Jessore district with 1.90 lakh
US dollars today.
On a tip-off, members of the Jessore Battalion (49 BGB) raided the
area and detained these smugglers with 1,90,000 US dollars, said a
press release.
The detainees were: Md Mithu Mandal, 27, Md Shahidul Islam, 23, Md
Sohel Rana aka Hazrat, 40 and Rakibul Hasan Sagar, 20.
The release added that four smugglers came to Jessore’s Hamidpur
area in a local bus from Benapole with a huge amount of US dollars.
They got down 500 yards east of Hamidpur and waited for the bus from
Jessore to Dhaka, it said, adding that a special team led by Jessore
Battalion Assistant Director Mohammad Faruq Hossain raided the
respective place and arrested them later.
A total of 190,000 US dollars was recovered from them while the
money was hidden in a special way in their waists. During the
preliminary interrogation, they confessed that they had been involved
in Hundi trade and gold smuggling for long.
