Robson secures 2nd win for Kings in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2021 (BSS)- Brazilian forward Robson scored a brace as defending champion Bashundhara Kings recorded their second consecutive victory in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football defeating Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-1 goals in their second round match held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) here.

Robson continued his prolific form scoring both the goals for Bashundhara, coming in the first half, while Ivorian defender Lancine Toure netted the lone goal for Police Football Club in the first half.

In the day’s match, Robson opened an account early for Bashundhara in the 16th minute while Lancine Toure restored the parity for Police Football Club in the 42nd minute of the match.

Robson however, sealed the victory scoring his second goal in the 45th+1st minute of the match.

After falling behind for the second time, the police came to the field with better preparation and created dominance in the field. They also got several chances to return to the match, but could not convert any of those in the remaining proceeding.

Bashundhara Kings left the field with full points due to the failure of the police Football Club as they could not score any goal despite finding several chances. The champions are at the top of the points table with six points from two matches. On the other hand, this is the second defeat for police Football Club.

Earlier, Bashundhara Kings made a winning start in the league beating Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-0 goals while Police Football Club lost to Abahani Limited, Dhaka by a lone goal, both in their league opening matches.

Bashundhara Kings will play their next match against Brothers Union Club at Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Comilla while Bangladesh Police Football Club will play against Uttar Baridhara Club at BNS in their next respective matches on January 23.

Wednesday’s match: Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society vs Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at 4 pm at BNS. BSS/SG/ARS/2006 hrs
