50 Joyeeta women accorded reception in Khulna division

KHULNA, Jan 19, 2021 (BSS) – Some 50 Joyeeta women in Khulna division have
been accorded reception for making valuable contribution to the field of
women empowerment.

Earlier, they were given the Joyeeta award as recognition for their
laudable contribution to social development.

Khulna Divisional Administration and Directorate of Women Affairs office
jointly organised the function titled “Joyeeta Onnesone Bangladesh” at Khulna
Public College auditorium in the city here this afternoon.

With Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain in the chair, State
Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira addressed the
programme virtually as chief guest from Shishu Academy in the capital.

The state minister said the government has taken various initiatives to
create women-friendly environment in the country so that the women can play
an important role for country’s socioeconomic development.

Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in women development and
empowerment to become a model in the world, she said, adding, “The women folk
have proved their abilities, expertise and efficiency in every field of our
national life.”

The Joyeeta award was introduced to encourage women to face various
challenges with confidence and become role models for the society.

Joyeeta Onneshone Bangladesh, an initiative, which was introduced in 2009
by the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, has a tremendous impact on the society.

Senior secretary of children and women affairs ministry Kazi Rowshon Akter
virtually joined the programme as special guest from the capital while
additional divisional commissioner (Development) Sayed Robiul Alam, deputy
director of local government of Khulna Deputy Commissioner Office Md Iqbal
Hossain, Principal of Khulna Public College Lt Col Abdul Muktadir and deputy
director of Khulna women affair office Nargis Fatema Zamin, among others,
addressed.

Later, Khulna divisional commissioner Md Ismail Hossain distributed
cheque, certificate, and honors to the best five and five runners-up Joyeeta
in the division. And the 40 Joyeeta were recognized as best Joyeeta in the
districts under the division.

The names of the five best Joyeeta, from 10 districts under the Khulna
division are – Lovely Yasmeen from Jhenidah (Economy), Sheikh Muslima Moon
from Narail (Education and Service), Rabeya Begum from Khulna (Successful
Mother), Sanjida Rahman Adury from Narail (Successful woman against violence
and repression) and Anjona Bala Biswas from Khulna (Social Development).
