DHAKA, July 11, 2018 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found
huge irregularities in its sudden drive at the Bangladesh Road Transport
Authority (BRTA) office in the capital’s Ikuria, Keraniganj.
“We must have to ensure uninterrupted services to the people after making
the BRTA free from corruption,” Director General (admin) of the ACC Mohammad
Munir Chowdhury told newsmen after completing the drive.
He has warned of taking tougher action against BRTA personnel if they will
fail to free the office from brokers.
A nine-member team of the ACC conducted the drive following allegations of
taking bribe for giving registration and fitness of various vehicles. The
allegations have been received by the ACC hotline 106.
The ACC team in its drive found that huge numbers of old and out of order
mishuks (tempos) of 2002 have been illegally converting to CNG (Compressed
Natural Gas).
It has also found that fabricated chassis numbers had been fixing up at
some of the tempos to get fitness certificates and registration of those
vehicles.
The ACC personnel have later distributed anti-graft stickers and leaflets
among the people who have been queued at the BRTA office, aimed at creating
awareness among them.
