SANGSAD BHABAN, July 11, 2018 (BSS) – The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the
Power and Energy Quick Supply increase (Special Provision) Amendment Bill, 2018
with a view to maintaining the progress of the power and energy sector of the country
corresponding with the development plan.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid moved the bill
and the House passed it by voice votes with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the
chair.
According to the bill, the existing “Power and Energy Quick Supply Increase (special
provision) Amendment Act, 2010 will be expired within October 11 in 2018.
So, the tenure of the act needs to be expanded for maintaining the progress of the power
and energy sector for implementing the ‘Vision 2021’, it said.
Earlier, the parliamentary standing committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources
scrutinized the bill in a meeting on July 8, 2018.
