Hanif lashes out BNP leaders for their incompetence, failure

DHAKA, Jan 09, 2021 (BSS)- Awami League (AL) Joint Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said BNP leaders are criticizing the massive development of the incumbent government due to their (BNP) incompetence and failure.

Addressing the BNP leaders, he said, “In your time (tenure), corruption was institutionalized. Your leader Tarique Rahman introduced the ‘commission trade’ by constructing Hawa Bhaban. BNP leaders are now criticizing the development of the government because of their incompetence and failure.”

Hanif made the remarks at a discussion organized by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sontan-Projanmaat Oikya Jote at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in city’s Segun Bagicha area.

About checking corruption, he said that the AL-led government adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption and immediate action was taken against anyone who had been accused.

Lauding current government’s endeavors to build a prosperous country, he said Bangladesh has made enviable development in the last 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Powergeneration, per capita income, food production and education rate have increased and medical system has been developed in the country, he said, adding that it is easily said that Bangladesh is now a role model of development.

The joint secretary of Awami League lashed out at the vested quarters for doing concerned ill-activities against the country saying that the nation has witnessed many sad and scandalous things because history is still distorted after 50 years of independence.

He added that BNP-Jamaat does not see so much development as they do not understand development, the only thing they understand is plotting or conspiracy.

Even the educated leaders of the BNP do not see development, he added.

He advised BNP leaders to stay away from hatching any kinds of conspiracy and stand by the people of the country for their betterment by supporting the current government.

“Look at the development picture of the government, then talk. Avoid telling lies,” he continued.

With Awami League central sub-committee member Barrister Zakir Ahmed in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Senior vice-president of Awami League Dhaka South City unit Nurul Amin Ruhul ,MP, Pankaj Debnath ,MP, AL relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Former Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Prof Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed and secretary general of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Shaban Mahmood.
