Speaker for reaching health services at grassroots level

DHAKA, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today stressed reaching health services at doorsteps of marginal people, saying the role of physicians is very important in this regard.

The Speaker made the remarks while addressing a function organised by DMC Alumni Trust at DMC auditorium here, marking the 73rd Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Day.

Chaired by DMC Alumni Trust chairman Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, the meeting was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Health and Family Planning Zahid Malek, National Professor Dr Shaila Khatun, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, Prof Dr TA Chowdhury, DMC Principal Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad and Dr Modaccher Ali.

Speaker Shirin said Bangladesh is moving forward in every sector under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “Bangladesh has already achieved the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) where doctors played an important role,” she said.

She said the government is committed to ensure health services for all while the activities of country’s health sector are being praised at national and international levels.

The Speaker urged doctors and others concerned to work together to keep the progress of the country’s health sector ahead.
