JS passes Khulna Development Authority Bill, 2018

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the “Khulna Development Authority Bill, 2018” proposing some changes to the structure of the existing board of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA).

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hssain piloted the bill in the House for passage of it. Later the bill was passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker M Fazley Rabbi Miah in the chair.

The Khulna Development Authority Bill, 2018′ was piloted in the Parliament to make the existing law more time-befitting and ensure planned development of Khulna city.

Piloting the bill, the minister said the proposed bill will bring some features in its board having a chairman, and four full-time members in addition to incorporating the post of member secretary.

He said Deputy Commissioners of Khulna, Jashor and Bagerhat will be the KDA Board members. A representative similar to the rank of Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department will be a member of the board.

Representatives from the Mongla Sea Port, Noapara Municipality, Ministry of Land and the Department of Architecture and three eminent citizens including a woman and a planner to be appointed by the government will remain there in the KDA Board in addition to other members, according to the bill details.
