DHAKA, Jan 2, 2021 (BSS) – The Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University,
Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman, today expressed deep shock and sorrow at
the death of freedom fighter and president of Bangladesh Mahila
Parishad Ayesha Khanam.

In a condolence message, the VC prayed for eternal peace of her
departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.

Akhtaruzzaman recalled the glorious career of Ayesha Khanam and
said the death of the leader has created a vacuum in the arena of
women’s leadership and the nation has lost a competent women leader
which is an irreparable loss to the country.

The heroic freedom fighter Ayesha, who had been suffering from
cancer, breathed her last at a hospital in the capital this morning.

She was an active organiser in the student movement of 1962, the
mass uprising in 1969, and fought in the great liberation war of
Bangladesh in 1971.
