JS passes Chattagram Development Authority Bill, 2018

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the “Chattagram Development Authority Bill, 2018” in amended proposing some changes to the structure of the existing board of the Chattagram Development Authority (CDA).

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hssain piloted the bill in the House for passage of it. Later, the bill was passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker M Fazley Rabbi Miah in the chair.

Piloting the bill, he said there will be some features in the board like having a chairman, and four full-time members of the board in addition to incorporating the post of member secretary in the board.

Besides, the Deputy Commissioner of Chattagram will be a member of the CDA Board, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department, Managing Director of Chattagram Wasa, representatives from the Bangladesh Railways Eastern Zone, Chattagram Sea Port Authority, two councilors of Chattagram City Corporation nominated by the City Mayor will be its members, he said.

The minister said there will be one representative each from the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Chattagram Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the CDA Board while six eminent citizens including a woman and a planner or architect will be appointed by the government as its members.
