Fertilizer (Management) Amendment Bill, 2018 placed in JS
SANGSAD BHABAN, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – The Fertilizer (Management) Amendment Bill, 2018 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to make the act time befitting.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury placed the bill in the House with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
Moving the bill, the agriculture minister said the government enacted ‘Fertilizer (Management) Act, 2006 (the act number 6 of 2006) for controlling production, import, preservation, distribution, marketing, transportation of fertilizer and fertilizer related goods using in the agriculture activities.
Later, the government amended the act in 2009 in limited scale, she said, adding that now the mixed balanced fertilizer has been added to ensure the accurate dose of the fertilizer.
Under the context, the government has enacted the new act to revise production, import, preservation, distribution, transportation and sale of the new invented fertilizer without taking its registration, she noted.
The minister urged the parliament to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee on the Agriculture Ministry for further scrutinize within 60 days.
