Report on BADC Bill, 2018 placed in JS
SANGSAD BHABAN, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – A report on Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Bill, 2018 Bill was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to ensure the supply of the all necessary inputs and equipments including fertilizer, irrigation, seed and ingredients and machineries for horticulture development at the farmers level.
Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry Md Mokbul Hossain placed the report on the bill at the house with Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair.
Placing the report on the bill, the parliamentary standing committee chairman said the new act will be enacted through repealing the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Ordinance, 1961.
The enactment of the law will help to continuous supply of all the necessary agricultural ingredients and inputs for the farmers to ensure food security for the increasing population, he said.
The act will help to take necessary steps by producing certified and quality seed of jute, pulse, cereal food crops, potato, oilseed, vegetable and other crops through the contact growers, according to the draft act.
Even the new act will also help the judicial use of the water resources by using and conservation of surface and rain water, it said, adding that innovation of new crop variety and release it with the name of the corporation.
The committee members Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Md Moslem Uddin, Abdul Mannan, AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen, Md Nurul Islam Omor and Advocate Umme Kulsum Sriti participated in the committee for further scrutinize the bill.
