DoE fines Toma construction Tk 50cr for cutting hills
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 30, 2020 (BSS) – Department of Environment (DoE),
Chattogram region, today fined a sum of Taka 50 crore to Toma
Construction and Company Limited for cutting hills illegally.
Moazzam Hossain, director of Department of Environment, Chattogram
region, imposed the financial punishment to the owner of Toma
Construction Company Limited, which was engaged to construct the
Dohazeri-Cox’ bazar rail line, after hearing today.
Earlier, a DoE team in the drive found that the construction firm
was cutting 2.22 crore square feet additional soil from 16 hills at
Lohagara upazila indiscriminately except their approved 37 hills.
Based on the allegation, DoE summoned them for the hearing at its
Khulshi office.
