SANGSAD BHABAN, July 9, 2018 (BSS) – Sylhet Medical University Act, 2018 Bill
was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad today aiming to establish a university for developing and enhancing higher education, research and quality of services in medical education in the country.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Zahid Malique on behalf of the Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim placed the bill in the House with
Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
Describing the proposed bill, the state minister said the bill came as per the assurance made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “It is necessary and justified to establish an university in the Sylhet district for developing and enhancing the higher education, research and modern knowledge practice in the medical science of the country,” he added.
The state minister urged the parliament to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for further scrutinize the bill within 30 days.
