SANGSAD BHABAN, July 9, 2018 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haq today said some 1,129 Acts have been prevailing in the country till June 30, 2018.
“We have 1,129 Acts in the country,” he said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Begum Umme Razia Kajol in the Jatiya Sangsad.
Replying to another question from treasury bench member Begum Sanjida Khanam, the minister said there are 33,95,649 cases are under trial in the country’s courts till March 31, 2018.
“Of which, 13,90,209 cases are civil, 19,18,527 are criminal cases and 86,913 other cases including contempt petition/writ petition/old cases). There are 5,03,512 cases are under trial in Bangladesh Supreme Court,” he informed the House.
Anisul said that some 4,85,266 cases have been under trial in the High Court Division and 28,92,137 cases have been under trial in the lower courts.
He said the government has undertaken some initiatives including increase of judges alongside reducing crisis of courts aimed at expediting judiciary activities.
