Bangalees will live with dignity in world: Tajul

DHAKA, Dec 16, 2020 (BSS) – Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam today said Bangalees have achieved independence under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in exchange of blood of 30 lakh martyrs.

“Awami League president Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the country was not liberated in exchange for the blood of three million martyrs to survive as a nation of beggars. The people of this country will live keeping their heads high all over the world,” he said.

He said while addressing a discussion on the occasion of the 50th Great Victory Day organized at Nagar Bhaban of Dhaka South City Corporation here.

Regarding the demolition of Bangabandhu’s sculpture, the minister said, “If the sculpture of Bangabandhu is disrespected, the whole nation will become dishearten.”

Therefore, such activities will not be allowed on the soil of the country, he added.

He also said that if anyone tries to do so, the people of the country under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina will deal the matter unitedly.

Local Government Division Senior Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed was present as the special guest at the function with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh in the chair.
