DHAKA, Dec 13, 2020 (BSS) –The first meeting of the committee for compiling the list of martyred intellectuals was held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs here.
With Liberation War Affairs Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, a press release said here.
The meeting decided to list 1,070 intellectuals published in 1972 and 152 intellectuals published by the postal department at different times in the first phase, the release added.
Ministry’s additional secretary Md Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan, deputy secretary Rathindra Nath Datta, Dhaka University professor Muntasir Mamun and president of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir were also present.
On November 19, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs formed an 11-member committee to prepare the list of martyred intellectuals.
It will prepare a list of martyred intellectuals by sorting out information obtained from various research books, magazine cuttings, TV reports and other sources.
Besides, the committee will screen the applications of individuals or persons from different ministries or divisions or agencies or districts or upazilas and other sources and will recommend for the inclusion in the list of martyred intellectuals.
