Unrest situation on campus won’t be tolerated: DU VC

DHAKA, July 8, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman here today said that the university authorities will not tolerate any activity that creates unrest in the university campus.

“General students want to attend classes and sit for exams regularly. But a vested quarter is trying to create untoward situation and hindering the students to attend classes and exams violating their basic rights,” the VC said.

Akhtaruzzaman told journalists at his office about university’s overall situation centering quota reform movement.

“Quota reformation is a noble purpose of the students. But a vested quarter is out to ruin the congenial atmosphere on the campus. The university authorities will not tolerate such activities,” he said.

About the incident of Tarique Rahman’s leaked phone call to DU Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed on April to organise and support students to mount the quota movement, DU VC Akhtaruzzaman said that a vested quarter is trying to gain political interest from the quota reformation movement.
