Setting up of solar street lights progressing fast
KHULNA, July 8, 2018 (BSS) – Setting up of solar LED and non LED light
over 58.8 kilometres roads at Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is progressing
fast.
A total of 77 solar LED and 2, 729 non LED light and 1947 electricity
polls are being set up in the city corporation area, said an official of KCC.
He said already 700 electricity polls have been set up in the city in
last month.
The KCC authority has taken the project involving Taka 22 crore in
cooperation with Asian Development Bank (ADB) last year.
Executive Engineer of KCC (Electricity) Zahid Hossain Sheikh told BSS
that KCC has taken the Solar LED project instead of sodium light as the
latter is very expensive.
The environment friendly light will save electricity bill, he said,
adding the bulbs also help curb crimes including mugging, robbery, stealing
and road accident in the city.
