Taka 3,394 cr permanent fund created for poor people: Ranga

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 8, 2018 (BSS) – Taka 3,394 crore permanent fund has been created against 56,036 Village Development Associations from 2009 to June 2017 to help alleviate poverty of the poor people.

“The government has given Taka 2,312 crore including incentive bonus and revolving fund to Village Development Associations (VDAs) as grant,” State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga, on behalf of his minister told the Jatiya Sangsad here today in reply to a question from Hazera Khatun.

He said 56,036 associations having 29.21 lakh members deposited Taka 1,082 crore, while the government gave Taka 940 crore as incentive bonus and Taka 1,372 crore as revolving fund.

The state minister informed the House that the LGRD and Cooperatives ministry has been implementing various programmes to alleviate poverty along with improving rural areas, adding, “The government has given income generating training to 5,00691 people for creating employment till June, 2017.”

“Implementation of “Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar” project is a major development project of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division of the Ministry,” Ranga said.

With implementation of 32,22,656 income generating small scale family farms based on rural life, the government created employment at rural areas till June, 2017, he said.

Ranga said the government distributed cows, corrugated iron, ducks, chickens, plants and seeds to 1,85,472 people in the first phase.
