BSTI fines Tk 72,500 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Dec 2, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution
(BSTI) fined 29 shops Taka 72,500 in Rajshahi division in November last for
selling and manufacturing adulterated food items.

Nine mobile courts of the BSTI, Rajshahi regional office in association
with local administration conducted drives in different districts of the
division and found the shops selling substandard food items, violating the
rules and regulations.

The courts realised the fine money from the shop owners as penalty during
the drives conducted in eight districts under the division.

BSTI Director Khairul Islam said the regional office conducted the drives
against the shops involved in manufacturing substandard and adulterated food
items.

The BSTI regional office also conducted 15 surveillance drives for
prevention of pilferage in weight and measurement and formalin use in fruit
and fish and lodged 11 regular cases against the law violators.
