RAJSHAHI, Nov 29, 2020 (BSS) – Concerted efforts of all government and non-government organizations concerned have become an urgent need to face the possible second wave of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Utmost emphasis should be given on creating public awareness about wearing face masks besides maintaining other health safety measures to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

The views were expressed by some high officials at a health related divisional view-sharing meeting at Circuit House conference hall in Rajshahi city on Saturday.

“We are communicating with seven countries in addition to the Oxford University to get effective vaccines,” he said, adding the government has, so far, allocated Taka 1,600 crore for the vaccine.

“We are very much hopeful about getting vaccines from Oxford University within the next January or February,” he added.

He also told the meeting that the present government has been doing earnestly for development of the health sector. Projects involving around Taka 50,000 crore are being implemented for development of the health sector at present.

He urged the local administration and civil surgeons to take action against all the unauthorized and illegal hospitals, diagnostics centers and pharmacies as soon as possible.
