Nasrul for special importance for expansion of clean, green energy

DHAKA, Nov 25, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said the government gave special importance to the expansion of clean and green energy.

“Special importance has been given to expansion of clean and green energy in the country,” he told Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami at his ministry office.

He said Bangladesh and India have many opportunities to work together for the development of energy sector in the region.

The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami paid a courtesy call on Nasrul Hamid and said India witnessed Bangladesh’s relationship with respect.

“Bangladesh can act as an energy hub in the region. The energy hub could be integrated by exchanging power, technology, saving electricity and energy and producing machineries jointly,” he said.

Nasrul Hamid said integrated development plans have been adopted in Delta Planning, adding, “Trilateral investment in hydropower projects in Nepal could be taken forward.”

During the bilateral meeting they discussed various issues of mutual interest including electric run vehicles.
India-Bangladesh friendship pipeline, cross border pipeline by H-Energy, cross border pipeline by IOCL, construction of power transmission line, activities of ONGC (OVL), Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company, hydropower import from Nepal and Bhutan, fuel saving etc were also discussed in the meeting.
