Fire at Sylhet Kumargoan power station under control

SYLHET, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS) – A fire that broke out at Sylhet’s Kumargoan power station this morning is now under control as four units of fire service have rushed to the scene and doused the flame.

Duty Officer of Sylhet Fire Service and Civil Defence Department control room said, the source of fire could not be identified immediately.

The fire broke out at around 11.10 am on Tuesday.

Eleven units of Sylhet Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 12:40 pm.

Chief Engineer of Sylhet Power Development board Mukammel Hossain said two transformers were burnt due to fire at the Kumargoan station.

However, about 2.5 lakh subscribers in Sylhet under this power station were disconnected from electricity due to fire.

However, a fireman was injured while controling the fire at Kumargoan. He has been admitted to CCU of the Sylhet Osmani Medical Hospital.
