PM meets President at JS office

SANGSAD BHABAN, Nov 9, 2020 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at his Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office here tonight.

“During the meeting, the prime minister thanked the President for giving a commemorative speech on the life, works and ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the special parliament session,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS.

A special parliament session, also the 10th session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad, on the occasion of ‘Mujib Borsho (Mujib Year)’, the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, began yesterday.

Abdul Hamid today addressed the session highlighting the long political career, ideals, works and philosophy of Bangabandhu, the founding father of the Bengali nation.

Various state-level issues, including the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, were discussed during the meeting between the President and the premier, the Bangabhaban spokesman said.

The prime minister, he said, informed the President on the various steps taken by the her government to address the prevailing coronavirus situation.

The head of the state highly appreciated the various pragmatic steps undertaken by the prime minister to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

President Hamid hoped that Bangladesh would be able to combat the pandemic and continue to move forward on the way to development and progress in the days to come.

President’s spouse Rashida Khanam was present there.
