4 national leaders did not deviate from Bangabandhu’s ideology: Mozammel

DHAKA, Nov 3, 2020 (BSS) – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, MP said national four leaders were worthy colleagues of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as they did not deviate from the ideals of the Liberation War and Bangabandhu.

“Four national leaders Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, AHM Quamruzzaman and Captain Mansur Ali were worthy colleagues of Bangabandhu. When Bangabandhu was assassinated along with his family on August 15 in 1975, many allied with Bangabandhu’s killers. Four national leaders gave their lives but did not deviate from the ideals of the Liberation War and Bangabandhu,” he said.

He was speaking at a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Parishad in old central jail area in the capital, marking the Jail Killing Day.

The minister said the killings took place on August 15 and November 3 to destroy the ideology of the Liberation War.

The assassins of Bangabandhu understood that if the legacy of Bangabandhu’s blood or ideology survived, the pro-liberation forces would re-organize around them, he said, adding that is why the assassins of Bangabandhu killed the four leaders in a safe place like jail.

He recalled the unforgettable contribution of the four national leaders to the creation of Bangladesh.

Earlier, the minister laid wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu and four national leaders on jail premises.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the home ministry and Former State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku, Lawmaker Jannatul Bakia, Department of Films and Publications (DFP) director general S M Golam Kibria and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Ataur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
