Memorial stamps released marking Jail Killing Day

DHAKA, Nov 3, 2020 (BSS)- The postal department has released a sheetlet with five memorial stamps, an opening envelop of Taka 10, a data card and a special seal of Taka 5, on the occasion of the Jail Killing Day.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mostafa Jabbar today formally released the memorial stamp, data card and special seal using a special canceller from his office here, said a press release.

The minister also issued a statement on the occasion of releasing stamps commemorating jail killing day, added the release.

He said the killing of the four national leaders inside the jail is the second most disgraceful event in the country’s history after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on August 15 in 1975.

It was also the reflection of a big conspiracy of local and international conspirators to expose Bangladesh to extreme wilderness after killing Bangabandhu and toppling his post-independence government, he added.

Highlighting the contributions of the national four leaders –Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain M Mamnsur Ali and AHM Quamaruzzaman — to the country’s Liberation War in 1971, the minister said, “They were tested political associates of Bangabandhu”.

“Traitor Khondker Mostaq Ahmed did not let them breathe as they (four leaders) did not agree to betray Bangabandhu,” he added.

These newly released postal items will be sold from all the post offices throughout the country including the General Post Office, its Philatelic Bureau and other principal post offices.
