Nasrul for projecting country’s successes to fetch foreign investment

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and
Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today called for projecting the
country’s achievements attained in different sectors to raise its
image both at home and abroad and fetch foreign investment.

“(In the power sector) about 98 percent of the people have so far
been come under the electricity facility. The grid areas will fully
come under electricity facility within the ‘Mujib Year’,” a press
release quoted him as he said.

The state minister was addressing a webinar titled “Payra Power
Station: An example of timely project implementation” organized by the
Energy and Power Magazine.

The concentrated leadership with the specific goals must bring
success, Nasrul said, adding that the power sector is the best example
of it.

“To boost up the confidence of the new generations, they can be
taken to the Payra project. After visiting the project, they would
think about Bangladesh in a bigger way,” he said.

Project Director Shah Abdul Mawla Helal presented a keynote paper in
the webinar, highlighting the challenges, use of environment friendly
machineries, supply and transportation of coal, power evacuation,
rehabilitation, safety and security provisions during the project
implementation.

Conducted by Editor of the Energy and Power Magazine Mollah Md
Amzad, the webinar was addressed by, among others, former professor of
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and energy
specialist M Tamim, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman
Engineer Md Belayet Hossain, Power Cell Director General Mohammad
Hossain, professor of RMIT University, Australia, Feroze Alam, BUET
Associate Professor Kazi Bayozit Kabir and North-West Power Generation
Company Limited (NWPGCL) Chief Executive Officer Engineer AM
Khurshedul Alam.
