GAIBANDHA, Oct 30, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangshad Deputy Speaker Md Fazle
Rabbi Miah underscored increasing hilsha fishes’ production in Brahmaputra
River here protecting mother hilsha as he distributed VGF rice to the
fishermen to mitigate their sufferings during banning period of catching
hilsha fishes.
The deputy speaker as the chief guest provided rice to 620 fishermen of
Hondia union and neighboring areas of Shaghata upazila here at a function on
the Jumarbari High School ground yesterday.
Upazila Chairman Md. Jahangir Kabir, District Fisheries Officer (DFO)
Abdud Dayan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohiuddin Jahangir and President
of Upazila Awami League Md. Nazmul Huda Dudu were present as the special
guests.
As the fishermen passes their hard times during the period of ban on
catching hilsha fishes, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
allocated rice under VGF Programme for the fishermen to smoothen their daily
lives, the deputy speaker said.
Each of the fishermen got 20 kgs of rice under the VGF Programme.
