Bangabandhu laid foundation for women’s empowerment: Speaker

DHAKA, Oct 28, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin
Sharmin Chaudhury today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman fought his whole life for the political and economic
emancipation of men and women and he laid the foundation for women’s
empowerment.

“The undisputed leader of the Bengali nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman has endured life imprisonment and oppression but had
not bowed down to injustice. Bangabandhu fought his whole life for the
political and economic emancipation of people. His philosophy for the
political and economic empowerment of women is exemplary for future
political leadership. Bangabandhu has laid the foundation for women’s
empowerment,” she said.

She said this while addressing a virtual discussion on ‘Bangabandhu
in Women’s Empowerment’ as the chief guest at a programme titled
‘Mujib Borshey Shoto Ghonta Mujib Chorcha’ organized by Meherpur
District Administration.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain delivered
the welcome speech as the guest of honor and chief advisor.

The Speaker said that the ‘Mujib Borshey Shoto Ghonta Mujib
Chorcha’ programme is a commendable initiative to spread the spirit of
Bangabandhu’s life, politics and liberation war among the people of
all classes and professions especially among the students in the
country.

She also mentioned that Mujibnagar Sutikagar in Meherpur played an
important role in the rise of Bangladesh in 71’s War of Independence.

Meherpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Md Munsur Alam Khan presided over
the function while Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Anwar Hossain
Hawladar also attended it as special guest.
