Employability, entrepreneurship key drivers for dev: Russell

DHAKA, Oct 28, 2020 (BSS) – State minister for youth and sports Md. Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP said government, universities and industries’ collective collaboration is critical to address employability and innovation driven entrepreneurship.

“Listening to the voice of the youth is critical for employability and innovation driven entrepreneurship. Collaboration among Government, Universities, and Industries is utmost importance for employability and entrepreneurship, two key drivers for Bangladesh development journey”, said Russel.

He was addressing a webinar through virtual platform “Zoom” titled “Employability and Entrepreneurship Development in Bangladesh: Pandemic and Beyond” today, said a press release.

Marking National Youth Day 2020, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of the People Republics of Bangladesh in partnership with Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Center, University of Dhaka and Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) organised the webinar.

Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the program while Executive Director of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Centre and Associate Professor of DU Mr. Md. Rashedur Rahman was present as the keynote speaker.

DUVC Akhtaruzzaman said success is not a matter of magic but the result of continuous efforts. As the government, industry representatives, universities, entrepreneurs and all other groups have come together in this program, the joint efforts of all can build our youth-centric beautiful future, he added.

He thanked Ministry of Youth and Sports for such collaborative initiative and appreciated enabling an environment where entrepreneurs shared the stories of their entrepreneurial journey.

Mr. Rashedur Rahman, Executive Director ICE Center, in his keynote speech, mentioned that to realize the Vision 2041, it is critical to focus on developing Innovation Driven Entrepreneurs (IDEs) in Bangladesh.

Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Akhter Hossain, General Director of the Department of Youth Development Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir and President of Bangladesh Employers’ Federation Kamran T. Rahman were present as special guests in the programme moderated by the Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS), Prof. Dr. Mahbuba Nasreen.

Four entrepreneurs in the program shared the challenges and dream stories of their own life’s entrepreneurial journey.
