DHAKA, Oct 27, 2020 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today opened “Quick Response Team and Emergency Hotline” at Tejgaon police station complex to ensure rapid service for women and children facing any sort of harassment or torture.

“We don’t want any woman or child to face any untoward incident . . . This is our efforts to listen to them,” DMP commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam said while opening the programme at Tejgaon Thana here today.

He added: “We will build the team in such a way so that any girl or sister can share her bad feelings with us to get instant remedy.”

The commissioner said there will be a vehicle standby and more vehicles will be added in the fleet subsequently as this quick response initiative is to prevent violence against women and children.

“Like hotline number 999, from now on, any victim will be able to lodge a complaint on this number 01320-042055 within 24 hours,” Islam said, adding that police would work with the hope that they would have a strong team to respond quickly.

As soon as the complaint is received, DMP’s response team will reach the spot and assist the complainant, the DMP commissioner told journalists, replying to a query.

Senior officers of the DMP and its Tejgaon division were present on the occasion.
