Durga Puja ends with immersion of idols in Sylhet

SYLHET, Oct 26, 2020 (BSS) – The five-day Sharadiya Durgotsav, the biggest festival of the Bengalee Hindu community, ended today with immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga in the river Surma.

Immersions of goddess Durga were held in city’s Chadnighat area this afternoon with presence of a huge number of people of the community.

Sylhet City Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury was present at the puja closing ceremony.

This year, a total of 64 puja mandaps were erected in the city and 2,691 at 40 upazilas of the division.
