Dhaka, Oct 20, 2020 (BSS) – Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy has offered cooperation to transform Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) into a smart city.
The proposal was made by Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy during a courtesy call on DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh at Nagar Bhaban today.
Taposh requested a written proposal in the wake of the Indian High Commissioner’s proposal for a smart city. In reply, the Indian High Commissioner said that the proposal would be sent as soon as possible, said a press release.
The High Commissioner congratulated mayor for making visible changes in basic service activities, including mosquito control and waste management.
Seeking cooperation of Indian High Commissioner for the participation of Indian athletes in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2021, Taposh said, “I look forward for your sincere cooperation for the visible participation of Indian athletes in the event”.
The meeting also discussed securing digital banking, modernization of traffic management to reduce traffic congestion, replacement of LED bulbs instead of CFL bulbs and technological solutions to increase revenue collection and organizing a legal book fair with lawyers of the two countries and judges from Bangladesh and India.
Describing Bangladesh as fortunate to be able to serve on the golden jubilee of Mujib’s year and independence, the Indian High Commissioner said his father took part in the Great Liberation War of Bangladesh as a member of the Indian Air Force during the 1971 Liberation War.
Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, was present at the meeting.
