LNG to be supplied in Chattagram this month: Nasrul

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 4, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said Chattagram dwellers would get facility of imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) this month as a LNG laden vessel already anchored in the Bay of Bengal.

“We expect to supply LNG in Chattagram from this month aimed at meeting gas demand in the area and we are waiting for gas supply,” he said this, while responding to a supplementary question from opposition bench member Begum Mahzabeen Morshed in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The state minister informed the House that the government has already installed Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) at Moheshkhali for supplying LNG to the national grid, adding, “Chattagram dwellers would get gas facility from this month with increasing gas flow in the area.”

Replying to another question from treasury bench member Panchanan Biswas of Khulna, Nasrul said the different power related companies along with REB have been working to bring Dakop upazila under 100 percent electricity coverage this year.

The state minister informed the House that the government has a plan to conduct 3Dimension seismic survey of 1,000 square kilometres in the deep sea by November 2018, while the government has completed 2Dimension survey of 3,560 line kilometres along with data interpretation in the Deep Sea (DS)-12 block.
