DHAKA, July 4, 2018 (BSS) – The ongoing light to moderate rain may
continue over the country’s northern part for two more days.

“The rain will continue for two more days over northern part of the
country as the axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar
Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Assam across the northern part
of Bangladesh,” AKM Nazmul Hoque, a meteorologist at Bangladesh
Meteorological Department (BMD), told BSS.

However, he said, the rain may abate from the country’s southern part
from tomorrow.

The meteorologist said due to active monsoon, heavy (44-88mm) to very
heavy (>89mm) rainfall with gusty wind is likely to occur at places over
Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions by 6 pm today.

In a weather forecast, the met office predicts light to moderate rain or
thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes at
most places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal,
Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderate to very heavy falls at places
over the country by 9 am tomorrow.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh,
Bihar, Sub-Himalayan and West Bengal to Assam across the northern part of
Bangladesh, the forecast said, adding that monsoon is active over Bangladesh.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country
during the period.
