People feel safe as Sheikh Hasina is in power: Murad
DHAKA, Oct 12, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan today said the country’s people feel safe and secure as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in the state power.
“The cabinet’s approval of the draft of the law (“The Women and Children Repression Prevention (Amendment) Ordinance- 2020”) prescribing death as capital punishment for rape in the cabinet proved that the country’s people feel safe and secure with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the state power,” he said.
The state minister made the remarks while addressing an anti-rape rally at the Jatiya Press Club here in the afternoon, said a press release.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the Awami League (AL) for emancipation of the country’s people, Murad said, adding that the party has been built with the emotions, feelings and love of the people.
The party (AL) can’t think anything else except the people’s welfare, he said, adding so those, who want to push the government in trouble making the rape case an issue instead of seeking redress to the menace, will be resisted with the help of people.
Justice Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik presided over the rally addressed by Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUB) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Barrister Tureen Afroz and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Professor Dr Mamun Al Mahtab (Swapnil), among others.
