Once law amended, rape incidents will minimise: Indira

“The cabinet today approved the 9 (1) section of the Women & Children Repression Prevention Act-2000 allowing capital punishment for rape,” she said while exchanging views with journalists after the cabinet meeting here.

Indira said an ordinance will be proclaimed tomorrow to this end and the ordinance will be turned into a law by passing it in the House in November next.

“With the support of people from all walks of life, it would be possible to prevent rape cases. And as such, the incidents of rape and torture will stop,” she added.
