JS passes Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalisation) Bill, 2018

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 3, 2018 (BSS) – The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalisation) Bill, 2018.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu moved the bill, 2018 in the House, which was passed unanimously by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation, Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation were established under the Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalization) Order 1972.

With the introduction of the Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalization) Bill, 2018 the minister said the bill proposed to establish head office of the every corporation in Dhaka.

Amu said in the bill, a chairperson is proposed to form a board of directors consisting of six directors appointed by the government. The Board of Directors will be able to perform all the functions of the corporation and exercise all its powers.
