56 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 29, 2020 (BSS) – Fifty-six more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing 376 samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division where infection of the deadly virus continues to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the newly infected cases were reported for COVID-19 positive after diagnosing the samples at the Rangpur and Dinajpur laboratories while the infection rate of about 14.89 percent.

Of them, 28 new patients were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Rangpur city.

“Among the 28 patients, 12 of Rangpur, eight of Gaibandha, one of Kurigram and seven of Lalmonirhat districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 28 more new patients were detected for coronavirus after diagnosing 188 samples at the M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Dinajpur.

“The 28 new COVID-19 patients include 13 of Dinajpur, one of Thakurgaon, four of Panchagarh and 10 of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 6:55 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 11,978 as 56 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break-up of the total COVID-19 patients now stands at 2,839 in Rangpur, 614 in Panchagarh, 1,065 in Nilphamari, 866 in Lalmonirhat, 904 in Kurigram, 1,121 in Thakurgaon, 3,392 in Dinajpur and 1,177 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
