DHAKA, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said the massacre of 1975, when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was brutally killed along with most of his family members, was the revenge of the defeated forces of 1971.

“Sheikh Hasina lost 16 of her family members altogether in that incident. Where were the people, who preach democracy today for show, at that time? In spite of killing almost all the members of a family, the path for justice was obstructed by issuing an Act. The defeated forces of 1971 had taken their revenge through that massacre and Ziaur Rahman after coming to power, proved that,” he said.

Hanif came up with the observations while addressing a concluding function of a four-day photography exhibition marking the 74th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi’s Rabindra Sarobar.

Cultural and Social platform, Gourab 71, organised the exhibition on the life and works of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina. A total of 74 photographs of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members were exhibited at the function.

“BNP-Jamaat alliance had taken the country to the brink of destruction. It was Sheikh Hasina, who turned the country into a developing nation and a role model for the whole world. She has turned Bangladesh into a modern digital country,” Hanif further said.

Natore district Awami League president Abdul Quddus, MP, in his speech lauded the organizers for organizing such programme, saying the exhibition has showcased every step of Sheikh Hasina’s life, starting from her childhood.

Awami League central committee member and former lawmaker Sanzida Khanam said if Banganadhu was not there, we would not have got independence, similarly, if Sheikh Hasina was not there, we would not have got today’s Sonar Bangla (golden Bangladesh).

Former Inspector General of Police Shahidul Haque, Dhaka University professor Sadeka Halim, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote president Golam Quddus, Income Tax Commissioner Asaduzzaman, former Chhatra League leaders Iqbal Mahmud Bablu, Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan and Mahmud Salauddin Chowdhury, addressed the function, among others.

With Gourab 71 president SM Monirul Islam Moni in the chair, its general secretary FM Shahin conducted the discussion.
