Conduct survey on service quality in power sector: Nasrul

DHAKA, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today called for taking initiatives to conduct survey on service quality in the power sector regularly.

“Distribution companies would have to increase customer services based on survey opinion,” he said while presiding over virtually a meeting on implementation, progress and review of development projects of the power sector included in the Annual Development Program (ADP) for fiscal year 2020-21.

Project directors need to be more proactive in implementing projects, he added.

The monthly target set for implementation must be achieved, Nasrul said.

The state minister also called for further improvement of the Mymensingh line and emphasized on enhancing the coordination of the transmission and distribution system.

According to the meeting details, the meeting reviewed implementation of 93 projects of the power division. Of the projects, 79 investment projects, 9 Technical Assistance (TA) projects and 5 other projects are self-financed.

As of August, 2020, the financial growth is 8.26 percent and physical progress is 9.48 percent, it said.

The virtual meeting was attended, among others, by Power Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Engineer Md Belayet Hossain, Chairman of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) Major General (retd) Moin Uddin and Managing Directors of the companies.
