India’s Covid-19 tally crosses 60-lakh mark

NEW DELHI, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS) – The COVID-19 tally in India has crossed the 60-lakh mark with a spike of 82,170 new cases and 1,039 deaths reported in last 24-hour, according to a data provided by the Union Health Ministry today.

The India’s tally stands at 60,74,704 including 9,62,640 active cases while the number of cured patients were registered at 50,16,521. Besides, a total of 95,542 Covid-19 related death cases were so far recorded.

According to the Health ministry Data, Moharashtra continues to be the worst affected by the pandemic with total 13,39,232 cases that is followed by Andhra Pradesh (6,75,6740), Tamil Nadu (5,80,808), Karnataka (5,75,566), Uttar Pradesh (3,87,085), Delhi, 2,71,114 and West Bengal (2,47,425).

The ministry statistics, however, said that the Covid-19 recovery rate in India rose to 82.58 per cent while the case fatality rate declined to 1.57 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 7.20crore samples have been tested so far, with 7.09-lakh tests being conducted on Sunday.

Besides, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Sunday said the COVID-19 fatality rate in the national capital declined to less than one per cent in the last 10 days.

He said a massive increase in testing for detection of coronavirus infection has led to the rise in new cases.
