34 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 27, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-four more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the virus continues to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 34 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 376 samples collected from the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection rate of about 9.09 percent.

Of them, 24 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 24 patients include 13 of Rangpur, six of Gaibandha, four of Kurigram and one of Lalmonirhat districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, only 10 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 10 new COVID-19 patients include six of Dinajpur, two of Nilphamari and one each of Thakurgaon and Gaibandha districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 9:45 pm.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 11,898 as 34 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise breakup of the 11,898 patients now stands at 2,815 in Rangpur, 610 in Panchagarh, 1,054 in Nilphamari, 855 in Lalmonirhat, 903 in Kurigram, 1,120 in Thakurgaon, 3,376 in Dinajpur and 1,165 Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
