UN peacekeeper Ashraf Siddiqui laid to rest

DHAKA, July 2, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladeshi UN Peacekeeper Lieutenant
Commander Ashraf Siddiqui, who was killed on Tuesday in South Sudan when a UN
convoy was attacked, was buried at Banani military graveyard amid state
honor.

Earlier, namaj-e-janaza of Siddiqui, a Bangladesh Navy officer, was held at
the Dhaka Cantonment. After the janaza, chiefs of three services paid
tributes to Siddiqui by placing wreaths at his coffin.

Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division and high officials of
armed forces were present on the occasion.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed expressed profound shock at
the death of Siddiqui and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family
members.

Siddiqui’s body was taken to Banani military graveyard. A 12-gun salute was
given in honor of the martyred. He was laid to eternal rest amid complete
state honor.

Later, the Navy chief handed over flags of the United Nations and
Bangladesh Navy, cap, honorary sword and medal to the wife of martyred navy
officer.
