RANGPUR, Sept 22, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested two presumed drug traders with huge smuggled ganja, yaba tablets, a covered van and other goods from Fanshitola Bazar in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Monday.
“On a tip off, an operational team of RAB-13 conducted a raid in the area, seized the contraband drugs and other goods and arrested the drug traders from the spot,” said a press release issued here today by Media Officer of RAB-13 Senior ASP Siddique Ahmed.
The elite force searched the Natore bound covered van from Kurigram and seized 42.60 kg of ganja, 25 pieces of Yaba tablets bottles, two mobile phone sets, cash money and the vehicle from the possessions of arrested persons.
The arrested persons are Saidul Islam Bania alias Shahidul Islam, 36, of village Khonchabari Shahin Mour in Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat and Mosaddekur Rahman alias Raj, 30, of village Shimulbari in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram.
“The arrested persons admitted that they were carrying the seized drugs from Kurigram to Natore tactfully using their covered van while carrying other goods also to other parts of the country for a long time,” the release said.
After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested persons to Gobindaganj police station in Gaibandha, the release said, adding that investigation continues to nab their other absconding cohorts.
