DSCC evicts illegal structures, fines Tk 12,500

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2020 – As part of its operations, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today filed four cases against persons at fault and collected fine of Taka 12,500 while conducting a mobile court operation in various areas under the city corporation.

The mobile court conducted the operation to identify the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes in the DSCC area, evict illegal installations and remove illegal cables, said a press release.

On the 28th day of the operation, in a continuation of regular eviction activities, they removed illegal cables from 20 electric poles from in front of Motijheel’s Sena Kalyan Bhaban.
At that time, two makeshift shops illegally set up on the sidewalk were demolished and two cases were filed against them and a fine of Tk 5,000 was levied.

Besides, AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed, executive magistrate of the corporation, today removed all the cables from 20 electric poles between Dhanmondi No. 3 and Star Kebab on Road No. 9/A.
Later, a mobile court headed by him, evicted 50 illegal structures from in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Two cases were filed against the two establishments and a fine of Tk 7,000 was levied.

Another mobile court, headed by DSCC Executive Magistrate Ferdous Wahid, conducted a drive in Ward No. 13 of Zone-2 to identify the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes.
During this time, he inspected 30 installations and warned one person against finding a suitable environment for Aedes mosquito breeding in two installations and warned another against existence of unhealthy environment.

The three mobile courts of the DSCC today filed a total of four cases and collected a fine of Tk 12,500 in cash.
